We've got a 6-hour endurance race comming up at the end of next month. It runs from 6pm to midnight, so lighting is a must. All I've got is the stock headlight on the stock '88 hood, or nothing when I run the Fullbores.

While the stock lighting seems just fine for casual night rides in the dunes, I'm concerned that, at race speed, it won't be enough. Like I'll be "outriding the light", if that makes sense.

What does everyone use for racing at night? Do I have to go all out for a huge stator and baja light setup? Would a couple of Trail Techs on the bars using the sotck stator be enough? Thoughts?

You ought to maybe call ricky stator, trail tech, and some of the others. See what they recommend. They might say you need to go the expensive route, but their advice would be a good start.

I put some 35w trail techs on a z400. One spot and one flood. I was impressed with the amount of light, but I think the systems with batteries help the lighting. For racing you might want to go with the 200w stator and two 75w lights.

Good advice guys. Thanks. I think I may be able to use a whole Ricky Stator Baja Light system from a guy out here (goes by "Pest" on this board). They're the dual 8" 100W monsters. All I'd need is to upgrade the stator. They're like what...$150?

LOL!!! Yeah. You loose a little visibility directly in front of the bike if your sitting down. But I had better not be going THAT slow to where it'll matter!

I will. I don't see him much...usually just if I need something (LOL!!!). He's really cool and very helpful. I'm not sure what I would have done if he haddn't come through withthe lighting for me!

Still around just don't ride very much, our dune group of 20-30 people shrunk to about ten last year and will probably shrink again this october. No new pipe reports since I bought the CPI, I was planning on tearing it down this summer and going with fullbore green and a black frame.

Blake I think you should replace that Big O sticker with a priority weed and pest sticker

LOL!!! I think you're right! You've helped me more than he has! Kenny (guy who owns that Big-O store) has done alot for the team, so that why his sticker is up there. If you'll get me one of yours, I'll run it up there and move Kenny to the rad shrouds! :D

BTW - it seems that there are some slight differences in our frames. I played hell getting that light bar mounted right. But it's damn solid now! New stator came in last Friday, and I've been in Vegas for work ever since. Be back this weekend and I'll hook it all up then!

They were, but the holes you had in the plastic didn't line up with where the bar needed to go through, so I had to cut new ones. Then the brackets I made weren't quite right, so I had a bitch of a time getting that bolt at the stem clamp to line up... Yeah, it was fun. LOL!!! It's all on there now, but it's all gotta come off for the ITP Quadcross next weekend, just so it can all go back on for the night race the next weekend!
