Im putting together a 310 and noticed piston rings have a mark on one side in the form of a letter. My question is does that face up towards the the head or down towards the crank ? It is a wiseco piston/ring set .

Marks on piston rings (doesn't matter if it's numbers, letters, or symbols) always face up.

Yeah. Marks always face up towards the head.
