I have an 87 250R. Bike runs great just riding around. If I run it through the gears and hold it pined it acts like it runs out of gas. Bike will almost just kill and if I stop it wont idle without pumping the throttle. After 30+ seconds it recovers and is ready to go again. I have went through the obviose to me. Float level is great plug looks great. Carb is clean. Float bowl fills right up with fuel. Cleaned in tank filter. Compresion is great. Tried new plug and coil. Air filter is clean. Just looking for ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

I have jetted, played around with needle location, checked float levels and cleaned. Cant think of anything else on the carb side. im going to give it a try with the vent tube removed or the cap cracked and see what happens. If not I guess Ill throw a carb off another bike on it and see if that changes the problem. Just getting frustrated.

when you look at the plug is it after riding just around or after it when its fells like it is out of gas. when i do my plug readings i do them in 4th. just hold 4th wide open as long as i can then kill and come to a stop and pull the plug.

I believe the fuel is getting from the tank to the carb efficiantly. As stated earlier I went through the petcock and filter in side the tank. Tested the floats by setting them and then attaching fuel line and filling the bowl to verify fuel level. Driven me crazy.

Sounds like you are wayy to lean on the top end and it is running out of fuel.

This means that their is no fuel in the bowl when it is cutting out and won't go.

So when it takes about 30 seconds to get back to running fine again is when the bowl is filling itself back up with fuel. Need to go fatter.

The only thing I dont get is I have ran it at the dunes multiple times with the current set up. Seems if it would have been that lean Id have blown her up long ago. I did change reeds when the problem started could that effect my jetting that far?
