So the temp differences in my 2 gauges were off when I went on my first trip to desert. The cluster on my bar read 190 with the sensor directly inline of coolant flow of the upper rad hose. when I climbed a hill the temp gauge that kicks my electric fan on was at 145 degrees at the top of the hill ( I have it set to kick on at 175) that sensor is the type that slides in between the radiator fins. I called trail tech and asked if the same style temp sensor (the one directly in coolant flow) would work with my universal fan kit gauge instead of the slip in radiator style. I was told it would so I ordered another sensor and have them both now in the upper rad hose now.

This style should be more dependable as to the other sensor was probably being cooled with air flow through the radiator even with the recommended grease.

Noticed my passenger side pegs were bent too and idk how I did that.

These things almost grip to much to piviot your foot to brake so I might dull a few of the points down so I can actually piviot my foot instead of lifting up my whole foot to brake but I’m not certain yet.

Well after much research on them I decided to bite the bullet and ordered a precision pro yesterday. So hopefully this will help with some of the things I was experiencing in the desert.
I've got the CCP installed now and it is cool! It cut way down on the bars moving around so much in the rough stuff. Rough cornering is better as well. I don't pump up as much and death grip as badly. You still get shook around but then you look and your arms aren't moving because it's the rear axle bouncing off stuff. Install wasn't bad at all, though I did have to get into Dad's tools for the American bolts it comes with :LOL:. I might adjust it a little tighter (it comes at 50%) but I need to get back into my woods for that test. And can't right now because they got overrun with bush honeysuckle.

So I'm curious to hear about the Precision.

The reason I went with precision is it’s more adjustable with center settings and turning settings from what I understand it has better impact resistance and being able to turn the bars easy under normal riding then if you hit a rock (hard fast jolt at the tires) the high speed circuit kicks in and keeps you in the direction your going. From what I understand the CCP is more of an adjustable constant resistance and I understand it still works as intended but feel free to correct me if im wrong. I will be installing the precision tomorrow but won’t have seat time till my shocks are back and I will have a better update when I take it to the desert again. Glad to hear it made a difference! Wish I could compare both back to back.

So sounds like the Precision has separate high and low speed damping circuits like modern shocks. I didn't hit any surprise big stuff since I was on familiar ground but I didn't feel like the bars were much harder to turn. I hear that people who like to turn the bars while jumping don't like increased resistance on the bars but I don't jump that high (on purpose at least).

So the install of the precision didn’t go that smooth why would it? Haha.
so I had to use my dermal tool to cut off the welds as much as I could then use a chisel to take off that welded square nut. So the bracket will sit flush on the frame

after I got it removed I still could not get it to sit flush due to the control arm bracket welds. so now I had to modify the precision bracket. I cut just enough off the precision bracket so it will sit between those welds which was about 1/8 each side.

After all the modifications it sits as it should. There was no way I could mount it in front of the stem either due to the frame gussets this is for an 86 frame.
only thing left to do is modify my brake line bracket behind the stabilizer and re route the brake lines slightly.

The CCP sits further back with a longer rod so it doesn't hit those bosses. I remember the CCP account wanted to know my exact year. I only saw '88-'89 on the Precision web site which influenced my decision to get the CCP since I have an '86. I feel like if the rod was longer on the Precision it could go further back and not interfere with that stuff on an '86, but if the stabilizer mount is too wide in the middle to go further back that's a tougher fix without machining.

See how much longer the rod is in the picture of their mounting kit for the 250R as opposed to the full setup? Hmm.

So they did send me the longer rod and I did try it but it also will not work because the bottom precision bracket interferes with the control arm brackets if it’s further back. I also have the single streamline brakes lines. It will only fit in the spot I have it.

I had to grind a mount slightly to clear a weld on one but other than that had no issue's installing CCP stabilizers on 2 of my 86's, both have Galfer single line kits. I've never noticed the bars being that hard to turn even when I ride in tight woods with them set stiff.

This is a silly question, but doesn’t the Precision sit on on the frame rail in front of the steering stem.
I have a buddy who has one on his R, and I swear it’s mounted in front.

Just confirmed his is mounted in front. He has an 89.

Just confirmed his is mounted in front. He has an 89.
Yeah there is no way it will work on an 86 in front due to the frame gussets. Not sure on the other frame differences.

I should have made modifications to the frame like you did to mount my Precision stabilizer, but I couldn’t let myself grind on fresh powder. I found a position where it sat really flat and then tightened the bolts equally back and forth until torqued to spec. Hopefully it works out🤞🏻 Mine is also an 86 and mounted to the rear.

Yes that hurt but saw no way around it. I was very careful with the dremel with a small cut off and a bur type bit. I need to go back and put some paint where I cut that nut.
