ok im working with an 85 short rod motor with a esr310 kit. race gas dome. drag ported by neil. running an atc5 exhaust. vforce 3 reeds 38mm airstriker. i have a few questions. what should the compression be at with the race gas dome? should i be running a hotter plug with race gas? and should i be running a timing advance? with an educated guess what would you guys guess the HP should be on this bike? thanks for any help

Compression psi be too all over the place with port height, squish, etc. Have to measure it by doing a UCCR for any real advice there. If I were to throw a number out there I would say it should be over 200psi, but have heard the ESR race domes are "weak".

Sounds like a nice combo. Good luck with it.

thanks for the info guys...i had it on the dyno the other day and it was at 41 hp but did not want to rev out smooth...it was only making 160 psi of compression. i think im gonna try another gauge though..and the dyno guy was saying i need to be running a timing advance on this with race gas

Yea, I never trust a compression gauge. I use two almost always. If you think something might be hurt I would do a leak down test. It will tell you more.
