Almost finished. A few odds and ends to finish up. First trip out with it will be MLK Jr. weekend at Glamis. I must say that I'm very dissappointed at the fit of many of the components on this frame. You can see in the pic how the air box boot is collapsing from having to push it too far forward since the air box doesn't fit into the subframe worth a darn. The muffler mounts aren't even close to the stock location. The bumper had to be bent to fit. The cdi box and wiring is too close to the stem and mounts. To change the cdi box, you have to unbolt the stem The list goes on. The major components like a-arms, swingarm, shocks, engine, fit perfectly. Is this typical of any aftermarket frame or just Arens? I would hope that laeger, LSR, and others are better, but I'm sure they all have their issues.

Here is the front view.

Here is the exhaust side. Picture came out crappy.

And here is a couple that show how far off the muffler mounts are. Not even close.

i had to fab a custom muffler mount for my frame, and i bent the tab that the CDI goes on so i could get it on and off. sometimes parts get tweeked slightly and molded to one frame, when swapping old parts to a new frame sometimes they dont quite fit like they should. from what ive read just about every aftermarket frame has something here or there that was a bear to get on.

i have no issues with my 02 arens frame. in fact, i think it's better than my old laeger. is that a cr250 reed cage? looks pretty thin and might have something to do with the air box tube. and do you have the rubber isolater exhaust mount things? might get that lower silencer hanger bolted up.

My ESR pipe doesn't clear my Laeger frame very well either. Mine is touching the frame and the shock. It is not binding but it is definately touching. I also had to fab up some interesting spacers to compensate for geometry difference. The pipe sits about an inch farther away from all of the mounting tabs on the Laeger chassis vs. OEM. I just had to live with the spacers.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. ESR mufflers are made to bolt directly to the frame. They only use one OEM rubber mount under the expansion chamber. The muffler fit pefectly on the stock frame. On the intake, we are using cr reeds, cr boot, and a mikuni carb with a special airbox adapter ring. Again, fit perfectly on the stock frame. I'm going to make some phone calls and try some different things. Is Arens still in business??? Rook, what are you using on your intake, airbox, etc? Ours seems like the subframe is too short. The airbox is squeezed in and the seat is beeotch to get on. You have to jam it really far forward to get it in.

i have a pro x cylinder with a trx rad valve, 39mm pwk, and stock airbox/boot. the only "problem" with mine is where the rear fenders overlap the front, the gap is a little bigger than it was with the oem frame. i believe arens is/was working with a mini quad manufacturer(cobra?) doing frame/front end design.

That's funny cuz ours fenders are too far forward where it overlaps the front fenders. It's like the entire subframe is too short and everything is pushed forward.
