OK , I bought a top end off of ebay about a year ago. It was supposed to be a DRI 275pv cylinder, pc2000 head. On the side of the cylinder it has a CGR stamping. I plan to run this top end for EDT ( tt) and flat track racing. I`m running against fully modded banshees , raptors and the works. The only real restriction is atv chassis and motors , no wild hybrids from street bike motors , etc. Some of these guys are pumping out 70-80 horses. I wanted to get an ers 270pv top end but it is not cheap.

If I were to send you my top end or the whole motor, what are my options? I know that we can go stroker , but how far can we go? and are there reliability issues?
Thanks a lot.

I think your going to need something bigger than a 275 in the open class.
If you were a real good rider & could make the bike do what it needs to do, might do right well, now I'm not saying your not though.
Seen Shane Hitt pull off many a win with a 265cc.
At one race in the main event, bike wouldnt even stay in gear & Shane was motioning Timmy to come on by & Tim still couldnt catch him.

I dont know about flat track, cause we dont run that but the EDT nationals, my daughter placed 8th last year out of 42 riders & rides a 330R.
Any racing where you either go straight or straight & turn left, a banshees going to be hard to beat but you get him on a good TT track & that banshee frame will wear him out. Aint seen but a few over the years could handle a banshee on TT, even in a R frame.

A nice 350PV midrange may serve you well, its all going to be about your riding though.

CGR is probably Chris Grissom Racing (Suzuki of Paris) in Tennessee. He built the motor on my Dad's Z400, which was Jon Ragon's 05 race bike. He is a real good guy to deal with. Helped me out with it a lot. He also built most of William Yokley's race engines.

Yeah, ol Chris,
You see an LT80 Suzuki out there winning races, you can put money on it he built it. Built my sons 80 years ago & sent a Motoplat ignition to mount on later, so dang fast we didnt need the ignition system. We MXed, he stood up almost every lap & the 80 dirt bikes couldnt touch it.
Only thing though, Chris was the reason I do two strokes now. Dont know what happened or was going on at that time, but after 800.00 worth of junk in two engines & not being able to finish a race, I had to do something.
Right now if I needed something, I probably still would check with him & hes the only one I would recomend for a LT80 build. Jack Moore can build them but Chris taught him as well.

Maybe the problem was that it was made by Suzuki instead of Honda? Just kiddin'. My experience with Chris was very good though. This z400 had every race mod you can imagine and he had them all in memory. I would have been lost without his help.

Another thing about Chris, for a good while when the 2 strokes were so big, he was doing porting for a bunch of the big name performance shops across the US. Say like late 70s & on, anybody had a ported cylinder he probaby did it.
