i have looked at these kits before. the problme that i ran into is that you have no way to tell if your port angles are correct. that is what stoped me from buying the kit. just do the easy way save your pennys and send it to neil and be done with it that is what i am in the procces of doing. that it is done the right way and you get a great port job.

The only way I would try that is if I had lots of spare parts, time, and money, and maybe even my own dyno. Better off to have an experienced professional do it. Porting is both a science and an art.

I like the art part of that, I got little pieces of me spread all over the United States. Rewarding part for me is I did it for a reasonable price.

right on ... some good replies ...... i would like to have a pro job done on my 295 cylinder... when i got this bike it had 2 junk cylinders ( sleeves busted) one has a busted cooling line connection so that left me whith one resleeveable jug, so i found a stock ( other than some slight polishing done to it) cylinder for $150 which was great so i got it running with that , then i figured out the carb that was on it was no good and i found a stock one which made a big difference , anyways the problem is i live in canada and these 250rs are getting rare and parts even worse, i want to do this bike up more than it already is i bought it with a fmf fatty pipe, turbine core 2 silencer, reed spacer, hotrod crank, barnet clutch and some nice aftermarket plastics i bought a prodesign coolhead so i could change compression, i think its 1 cc smaller than stock when i broke it in it was 180-185 psi , and boysen reed vavles it runs good but i weight 250 pounds and like to ride hard , if i had the money i would buy a 370pv or something but im trying to not spend to much money ... how much would it cost to ship a cylinder from ontario, canada to you Niel and get port work and then send it back ?

I think what you will find with shipping, unless you ship a package next day air everything will have to go through customs which could take several day just dealing with that.

Next day is what we do when shipping shocks back to Elka, cost like crazy but a whole bunch quicker.
I normally charge 250.00 to port a cylinder & thats a port job like would be on a pro riders engine.
