whats the advantage of a cr250r ignition???
i just recently got one...with my R, havnt had much time, but from what i can see it revs rediculously fast, also id imagine it does not foul plugs like the 20 year old wiring would. Im sure you lose bottom end with this setup, but for hi-rev situations it would be good. you would want a stock flywheel if you were doing mainly trail and gncc type riding.
more spark power & advanced timing, more precise timing
faster revving motor,increased rpm's
cleaner burn & easier starts w/proper jetting & fuel
increased horsepower on topend
less ignition failure @ higher rpm's than stock ignition
but what about lights sir?

^ you dont need em for MX! ;)
I know that somewhere there is a thread about setting it up for lights .. B)
but im not cool enought to do MX!, and im too much of a sissy

im running a cr250 ignition with a nology profire and hot wire, it revs insanly quick compared to stock, and you dont realy loose taht much bottom end, and what ever small amount that you do loose, you make up for with the faster revs
A few years back, Service Honda was offering an updated ignition system for the CR500 that included lighting coils so that CR500 owners could ride at night. It was listed on the front page of their web site, but been awhile sence I've been on there. The CR500 ignition looked just like the CR250 ignition so I guess it would be a bolt on with one of the adapter plates offered by CT racing or ESR.

is anyone using the msd ignition system that they offer for the trx i think its badass they make a specific system just for this quad only down fall i see is the 7.4 volt battery u need to use with it
Was looking in a 04 WPS catolog & they offered a stator with lighting coils for the CR250R from a company called Electrics. Dont have an up to date catolog or know if they still carry them, just thought I would mention that.

I know this is an old post and i might get ripped on for asking this....What year(s) cr250 ignition are you suppose to use?

2000 & 2001 although the 01 is preferred. FYI some of the main parts like the flywheel and ignition module are not interchangeable.
