So after all the advice you got against the cr500 swap, and a member even specifically asking you not to hack up such a clean R, you're gonna do it anyway. :blink: Ok...your bike man.

Good luck with the project. You'll have to post a "progress" thread to let everyone know how it goes and what you think. ;)

i have some ideas to make the vibs go away(crank balancing, silicone, strategic rubber mounts). my main motivation is doubling the horsepower for a net total of $500. i am going to do my best to not modify anything that doesnt have to be modified and keep it clean looking. i can have it professionally welded and i have access to CNC machines.

How much horsepower does a stock CR500 engine make? My money says you will end up regretting the move. Why not just do a nice reliable, yet powerful rebuild of your R engine?
i think stock is 60ish, and then from there you can get them into the 70s, but thats on a dirt bike, not a quad, with heavy rear wheels

Save your breath man. Lots of people told him this in another thread. He's set on doing it regardless.

I really do hope he figures out something that no one else has. Until I heard all the resaons not to do it, I always thought it'd be pretty cool.

yeh thanks for pointing out the obvious lol i missed that when i posted but i was just going through and trying to shoot a price on every motor i could find to see what i could come up with and find the best deal but u know how it is when you wanna ride you wanna ride so you do what you got to do to make that happen.
