Any of you guys ever tried putting Tech 8 soles on Tech 4 boots? The tech8 has the replaceable insert so I was thinking that would be the way to go on my tech4. The boots are only 2 years old and I've worn through the arch area. I'm guessing a shoe shop can easily put them on if the soles fit right.

i had tech 6's that had the replaceable sole inserts. the soles wore out in a season, i tried first just replacing the inserts, they wouldnt stay on, then i took the boots to a cobbler he re-stitched the boot, and glued on a new complete sole, it lasted a month. alpinestar soles are junk. i switched to gaerne SG 10's ive had them for 2 seasons they look brand new. im not sure if tech 8's fit tech 4's, but the new sole no matter what boot its for wont last long. i wouldnt bother with the tech 8 soles, because the inserts dont stick at all.

Hmmm...... I thought about just getting new ones, but they took so long to break in. They are finally comfortable and now the soles are worn out.

how did you break them in? i wore my tech 8 in hot water got them nice and soft then work around for a while and rode for a little bit. now they are more comfortable than my sneakers but no wear near as comfortable as my redwings.

I pretty much just rode with them. Shifting gears was the main problem. Took awhile to get used too.

gearne SG10's no break in needed, theyre comfortable the first time you put them on. ;)

if you replace the soles they might stay on fine. i just had trouble, and they do wear out fast. i wouldnt bother with the tech 8 soles though. as the inserts wont stick, if you replace them.
