how come people say that there 250r keeps right up with alot of 450's. well how come if there so good and fast. like good handeling and power and all that stuff. why dont pros or people that like to race that r good use 250rs. im just wondering because its not like when ur racing u hold ur atv pinned last gear around every corner or off every jump.

theyre not used by pro's because of rule changes. the last year they were legal a 250R based quad won both the GNCC and the GNC. theres a big difference in opinion because 2-strokes require more skill to be ridden to their fullest potential. manufacturers both OEM and aftermarket are making much more money on the 4-strokes, so they push them also.

Yeah, the last year that the R's were allowed in the pros, Jerimiah Jones smoked the competition on an Lrd framed R with an Lrd 265PV. The following year, they ruled that all frames must be OEM. That pretty much ruled out the R.

There are some circuits, both local and national, that still allow the R...the ITP Quadcross series for one. And in several classes too, including the premier class, 265cc - 450cc 2 & 4 STROKE, which goes all the way up to pro.

Here, check this out...

ITP Quadcross classes

ANd the old R does keep up just fine. ;)

Are any of the pros running 250Rs in the ITP or worcs? Another reason that most of them have probably switched is because of sponsorship, cost, and the time it takes to put together a full race R. You have to search around for parts. A lot of race people don't make parts for them anymore.

My friend Justin Zembo runs a CT 350PV in the pro class in the ITP series. He also ran one in WORCS until last year. And yes he switched for sponsorship reasons. He's sponsored by Alan at CT and they decided to go to the 450R for parts availability reasons. Like you said, it was getting tough. He lost a race the season prior because his CDI went out and couldn't find another. Had he been running a modern bike that race, he'd have been fine. Some others ran 265s in the ITP pro class last year too, but almost all have switched over now. There are still a few of us in the amature ranks though.

The factory riders are obviously gonna run the latest and greatest, and that's no R. LOL!!!

gncc is straight bullshit.... jus coz no one else could keep up with an R dosent mean it has 2 be ruled out of the compition.... i rekn if the byk is within the cc rating it should be allowd to race regardless of the frame.......... (250cc 2 strke,450cc 4 strke) should be alowd in the same compitition. who cares if they have a well built frame...
