I have a 05 swingarm that I am going to use on my 86. from what I read, everything will swap over to the 450r swingarm including the bearing carrier. I thrashed my 250r bearing carrier and need a new bearing carrier and wonder if I should get one for a 250r or one for a 450r. will the 250r axle and brake caliper bracket work in the 450r carrier?

zedicous (sp?) explained everything in detail on the other site. I found the thread and reposted...

I'm finishing up the same swap right now. All of my R stuff bolted right up, just like the write-up said it would. I don't think your 250 axle will fit a 450 carrier. I'd stick with a 250 carrier so that you spend less money. You do have to make sure that you have your 250 carrier rotated properly for the brakes to fit. But their is no need to buy a bunch of other 450 parts. Also make sure you have the 450 dust caps with the swinger. Otherwise the arm will be loose. Damn it looks good on there!

I thought that the swap was for 86-87 R's, and that you need an 04-05 450r swinger. I say that, but mine isn't fitting. I found in an article that the 04-05 is 15 millimeters shorter than the 06-current swinger. My dogbone is off by about 15 millemeters. Either I got the wrong swingarm or the article's I've read are wrong.
