pretty simple questoin, im doin mx, what do you think would be better a 310pv or a 350pv, is the 350 worth the extra money, and does it gain much more power, and how about reliability, and lastly, i was planning on running a standard bore LRD if i got a 310, what would be best for the 350, i was thinkin about either a BB LRD or a sparks mx

Can't tell you from personal experience really, but I do know a couple of pro riders that have used both.

One had the 310PV and preferred the 310 non-PV to it. And he ran alot of WORCS stuff.

The other runs a 350PV and loves it. And DAMN is he fast! I did get to turn a couple laps on the MX track on it and holy shat!!! The power is indescribable. It's the "holy grail" of engines if you ask me.

well, making it short, i had a 310 non pv and my friend has a 330 non pv. the 310 could be run kinda like a 250, wide open but also had power to blast out of turns. my friends 330, was very tiring, and he acutally rode a gear higher to control the power. i think 310 is the way to go for mx....

many say the 350 & 370 are not very long lasting even when built by the best !...& are subject to "blowing up"..for different reasons
many pro's have described a good runing 350 as being "too much power " at times ..
sure as hell you better be ready to spend plenty on the bottom end or be willing to have down time for repairs

....out of all being discussed the 310's most ecomonical to build ,and seem to have the longest life with least problems for most ..
& has the capablity to make very strong usable power if set up well & absolutely doesnt "beat up" on bottom ends as much the others

well you are certainly thinking in the right direction for longer life...

yukon gears ...another story in itself !!
I have discussed yukon gears with a 20 year veteran of building high performance 250R motors for many fast rider & pros including names like Barry Hawk ,Chris borich ,John Natalie right here in Pa...& he didnt subscribe to using them as is ..he claims they are extremely hard(good) & also brittle (bad) ..& went on to show & explain because they are not chamfered / radiused 100% all over on a gear hob as well as OEM type gear they can be prone to splinterring, fracturing & exploding if bought & used as they come ...
I remembering seeing the difference compared to oem gears in his shop & was like hmm....there is a big difference .he's right !
BTW if you ever want to have a motor built by the guy that taught LRD a few things way back when ..just let me know

I'm sitting here scratching my head trying to figure out this not lasting long deal with a big bores  cause we got a 330 that to say the least has been beat to death for the last 3 years. I'm talking about all EDT national events & all of out local events from 3 years.
We must have one in a kuzillion I guess, but its still purring like a kitten.

I'm with ya Neil. I watched a pro rider out here run his 350PV for two full seasons of WORCS without problem one. And if you know WORCS, you know it's not nice to bikes!
