Alright hear is the question. Me and a guy have a bet going for two races. One on 100 yards of tacky dirt and one on 100yards of sand. I have a 265Pv with perfect dirt tires and his dirt tires are fine. I am banking on the fact the this in a 320 pound guy. What do you guys think, do i got him?

You best be a REAL good rider on that 265 if that 525 engine has been modded any, because that 320 lbs he is will get him all the traction he can get on either track.
Best find some traction first by practicing on those surfaces to see what the R will do.

Now on a MX track, might be a different story, but whats a fair race between a 265 & a 525 ???

those 525's are rockets. thats a 50+ hp engine stock. like Neil said you best be a real good rider, and be a pro at launching that 265. his 320 pounds is going to go straight to his rear tires. in 100 yards, i dont see his weight hurting any.

Lets gither tuned up then.

Those Othsu radial rear tires, like came on the 250Rs when new, are the best straight line tire you can buy, that is if its loose dirt.
If where your running on hard pack, get a set of turf tammers or those old squaire knob ice racing tires & put those ice screws in them so they will hook up. That what the guys are doing around here on hard pack.

Jet the carb right. You might could lean it down a tad, BUT, be carefull doing so. A lean 265 will run harder, but you cant get it hot or you'll kill it.

If your 265 is set up right, you should beable to beat him no problem. Those 525 KTM's are slow...there was a few at the dunes this weekend. How much do you weigh my friend? because weight is a big factor in acceleration? If he is 320 and you are 180, thats a huge difference.

depends on the year of the 525. the 06 525sx is only a 4 speed. this weekend i was racing a guy with a 06 525 with a paddle, against my 86 295r. i take him har all the way through the top of third, once i shift into 4th he is right there, and after that he is pulling. now thats in the flats. at the hill (olds at glamis) i have him all the way till about a hundred feet from the top, and thats when he gets me. i'm running a 13 tooth gear, 36mm kehin with a 178 main and running 50/50 112 and 91 @ 32-1. i think my carb is too small, and might be a tad small on the jetting. i think a 39 AS carb and 182 main i would kill him. then i would be running straight 112 @32-1. but the 525 is topping out arount 70-74 (with the 4 speed).
