I'm also a big fan of Chevrolet cars from the sixties. Most car enthusiasts know production numbers on their favorite car. Just wondering if anybody knows how many ATC250Rs where sold back in the 'hay day'.

I've searched for the legendary 87 atc250r but only find a few people claiming to have one but no one will post pics or show proof. I'd sell my house for one of them lol

Will you please provide the source of your data, I have not been able to find production numbers and have searched quite a bit.

Since we are on the topic of production, does anyone know the production figures for 1986-1989 TRX 250r?

Mike i do not think we will ever see a precise number of machines ATC 250R 85 or 86 made and sold in our lifetime! I personally think these are estimates but we will never know if they re close, Honda also never came out with how many atc's were made back then they also were not subject to. At that time they were a private co and are not required to divulge anything to public. But at some point I hope someone who worked for Honda of America gives us that info.

Why do you think I question the source of the data.

Look at what SELVYSATC posted, those numbers look pretty "specific? I know the source of the data was on 3wheelerworld, posted by a very good friend of mine atctim (Tim Keister) but the link does not work anymore.

Did you contact Honda and they told you that because they are a private company they will not and do not have to divulge production numbers, or is this your opinion?

Here is the thread:

just found a great atc site for production #s and parts

I live in Canada I have seen a couple 1987 and 1988 bigreds in person. They were the same as the 1985 model and appear to be leftovers. I do not believe the 1987 250rs/350x's exist someone would have found one by now. Their might be prototypes out there but that's it imo. that means 1 of each and that would be my best guess.

I have talked to the old racers and Honda did build a prototype 500cc 2 stroke trike with a bigger frame than the 250r and built a 1 off motor that was not anything like the cr500 motor it was sand cast and was built for the atc. Honda also built a 200cc 2 stroke atc that was not based off the 250r or cr250 It was a sand cast engine and they tested it. The other prototype I know about was a independent rear suspension trike. They were all tested by factory riders and Honda crushed them after testing.

Back in the day 87 atc 250-R were made in Canada . I remember because a friend of mind was going to drive up there and pick one up. But that's was around the time Honda was going threw all the law suits and he didn't want to go threw the nightmare of paper work to bring one back.

I believe there's an article in a three wheeler magazine or dirt wheels that has all that stuff in there. Not sure if I still have them in the garage somewhere.
