I was given a 88 250r. Knew nothing about it, but wanted a project to build. Cleaned carb and she fired right up after 20+ years sitting. I joined to figure out advice on parts and various setups.
In the mean time I spent lots of money and now am looking for a crankcase. Can someone tell me where or who might have one or know where I can get one?
Tear engine apart, clean well, de-grease, have it TIG welded, then machined-blended. Then lap the case half flat. It will turn out perfect if done correctly. Do not TIG weld the broken piece back, the gap-area needs to be filled completely. If you weld the broken piece back, you will get voids, porosity, and very poor adhesion & strength.
Appreciate the advice. I'd hate to have 4k in parts go to waste because I chipped case.
