    My project TRX CR500 conversion

I am going to move my work from the e2s forums to here as well, seems the site was down for some time. I am gonna cut and paste but the thread over there is a MEGA thread here is a link from where I start, but the whole thing is an EXCELLENT read.
    cr500 in a 250r frame - Page 120 - E2S

My project goals are as follows

Design a self contanted, motor bound forward kicking solution (Current progress 80%)
Design a lighting kit that surpasses the oem stator ourput (Current progress 75%)
Design a counter balancer for the vibration issues (Current progress 70%)
    Add a decompression system (100%)
Use the 450r hotstart to work the decomp (90%)
Block off uneeded top water port (100%)
    Switch to 00-01 cr250r ignition and 00-01 cr125 cdi (100%)

I am pleased thus far with the over all progress as it is a GIANT undertaking. I am getting ready to add the balancer in the next few weeks.. You can see the cad work on the other site or I can post up pics here.

    Stay tuned

So I did alittle poking around tonight and came up with some balance weight numbers. According to my math a stock piston in a stock bore should require right around 1.9 lbs of weight. At that weight you would be looking at about 80% vibe free.

Remember that no single cylinder two stroke engine will ever be perfectly balanced. It isnt possible, With that being said this should bring the 500 engine inline with the stock 250r.

Here is a mock up scale drawing of the primary drive gear (in blue) The proposed gear (in black) and the new engine casing (in pink)

I thought you might be interested to see some of the pics from my crank bearings (lower) I disassembled the crank for the purpose of weighing the componets for the balancer, what I found shocked me, pitted rust in my roller bearings and the pin face. The crank big end looked good but it did have dark iron oxide spotting. Have a look.
