To buy or not to buy? MINT 89

My dad has quite a few 250Rs, most in perfect shape. He needs room and wants to sell me his 89. Everything is new OEM, he has about 11K into it. He wants to sell to me for 7,500.

I have no truck, and I would have to pretty much store it for a while until I move or get a truck. Good buy? I want it, otherwise he will sell to someone else. In Northern VA, if anyone is near that rides...

Very nice. Is that restored at all? New fenders, paint, etc? I've got a stock 89 in very nice condition that has never been restored, but the white plastic along the tank is discolored due to the rubber stripes between the tank and plastic. I think the adhesive they used bleeds into the plastic over time, giving it a yellow hue. It is a common problem with the white 89s.

If I were you I'd buy it and ride it. I ride mine and so long as you don't abuse it will stay new looking. You can also look at it as an investment--they're only going up. Just for reference, I got mine for $6500 and that was 3 years ago.

Number 1 Your dad sounds like a jerk, asking full retail from his son and threatening to sell to someone else.
Number 2 Get a truck it is way more important for moveing on with your life, you can make money with a truck and support you family
Number 3 paying 3 times what anything was originally worth just to make it a garage queen is ultra gay.
Number 4 Do you think even as a garage art its a good investment at 7500? No way

If you dont already got a 250r, get a really nice one with as many upgrades as possible for a good value, It can still be garage art to just about anyone that sees it. That way you can actully ride it and its value will still hold ok.

The next gen of kids could not care less about 250r's, the value of things that where cool in the 90-2000 will only go down one day, just like how thing are grandparents thought would go up in value forever and never did because we all wanted thing that where cool when we were young and couldnt afford them. One day when all us guys that grew up dreaming of having a 250r get old, most will want to sell probably at the exact same time, or worse your kids will sell for who knows $7500 ya right

^ this guy lol. #1 is funny as hell. 7500 is steep. Tell your father to kick rocks.
I don't agree with Canada fully. Motor sports will always have a niche following. Collectors pay good money when they have to have a piece in their collection. Your grandmothers cast iron foot pedal mechanical sewing machine will fetch a few bucks the same as your grandfathers 40s Buick. Rare is always cool.
Buy an r for 2 grand, sink 3-4 into it and you'll have a show piece.
