Collectors will pay $7500, even if it is on the steep side, however; not everyone is a collector, and the seller will need patience or the correct buyer-collector to come along….and to some it is not worth the high dollars.

At the end of the day, it is worth what a buyer is willing to pay, 89’s are rare, and fetch the highest dollars. R's are not going down in value, not now or in 30 years...

Great looking bike. If your looking for something to ride, that would not be my first option. More of a show piece. Bike is too clean to ride.

If you don't buy it, let me know, I know someone who would possibly be interested.

I don't have the room, and I am going to want to ride it (once I get a truck or find some buddies with a trailer). If anyone is interested, let me know - this wasn't intended to be a for sale post, but for the right price he will sell it. He isn't going to take $7,500 though, that was the son discount. He has $11K into it, I know for sure. He paid a LOT for the new OEM plastics alone. He is in NW PA, let me know.

Definitely best bet is the Bay, going to be hard to sell for over 7500 locally. Good luck with the sale.

$9,000 takes it. PM me if interested before I close this thread. Otherwise look for it on Ebay.

    Brand new plastic

    Frame powdercoated

New piston and rings, everything OEM

Plastic will sell for 5 alone--

fenders go for around $4,000 yes but that's never mounted.after they are mounted you are more in the $2,000 tops range...let you dad know $9,000 isn't going to happen.maybe in 10+ years but not now.and with it being redone and not oem that lowers the price even more.

A very sweet 500 zilla just went on ebay for 6 grand. I wanted it bad but it just came at the wrong time. I actually sat on the machine last year when I was buying an 84 R from the same guy. Anyway, getting max price on ebay depends on some luck. The best case for the seller, of course, is to have multiple bidders who really really want it. First they have to see it, then they need cash in hand, and sometimes location plays a role--do they have to ship it? I would be surprised if you get 9 grand too. I think you're guaranteed $6500 to $7000.
