    stock banshee: 38 hp 30ft/lb
    stock yz 250: 48 hp 30ft/lb

not to mention he probably saved 40lb's between between the engine, the pipes and the carbs.

Matt "kangaroo" Kidd ran a yz motor in a banshee frame. He was a dare devil performer back in the mid nineties. He was the guy tried to jump that steamboat in quatros locos if anyone besides me remembers that video

The banshee engine is extremely heavy vs the YZ motor he probably saved 60-70 lbs with the swap. sure you can do more to the 350 engine.. but heck, maybe the banshee would actually handle better with a lighter 250 engine.

Only problem with the swap is that the reliability of the engine will not be as good with all the extra weight it has to pull. Its not beefed up to handle the weight.

Back in the day, Yamaha even had a prototype race bike with the YZ250 motor in a banshee. I believe it was 87. I have the DW mag that has that article. I'll try and find it. Yamaha was considering building a 250 race oriented bike at that time.

BTW, you won't get banned on here for posting anything 2 stroke related!

Was quite a few of the 250 engined banshee back in the late 80s/90s. A 350cc could only compete in the open classes, so some Pro riders put a 250 engine in so they could run the Pro class.

Matt & his dad, came over I think it was in 89 & ran the national TT series that year on a Suzuki. We have pics of the race at Raleigh NC he was in & talked to him & his dad after the event.
Matt, later & once he was back home, sent some pics to my oldest daughter, which at that time was on a TRX70 Honda.
If I remember right, at that time, Matt was one of the first from another country to race atvs in the USA & probably only one or two others on dirt bikes.
He was here the same year Mickey Thompson & his wife were killed if you know that year.

Some kid around here that used to race mx, blew up his yfz450 and said screw it and took the motor out of his yz250 and put it in there. Why I dont know he obviously didnt care for the bike at all but if you ask me it was an upgrade for the quad, except the fact that Ive never seen so many washers put on one bolt to make spacers where he put the motor mounts...darn rednecks...
