    Hey Guys,

I'm new to the forum. I tried to search on the topic but could not find the answer to my question. I have a 450r that I want to upgrade the shocks on. Will the stock 450's fit on
my 250r. I figured someone has already tried this and knows whats involved and it might save
me from putting them both up on lifts and trying the swap.

Also, if someone has done it, how did the shocks ride? I don't like them on the 450, but I think they may be a nice upgrade from the stock 250 shocks.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dman

I bought my 250r with 450r front shocks on it. they bolt up but they are as stiff as a board, even on the loosest position. they make the front end sit a little taller too.

Thanks Bud. R they still too stiff if I back off the preload and compression? I know the 250r is a lot lighter, but I weigh about 210 so I find the shocks on the 450 a little soft. They actually come stock set up for a 180 lb. rider.

Were you able to find out what year the 450 shocks were? I understand that 04-06 were much stiffer and the adjustments didn't net the same differences. Not sure I like the front sitting taller though....

Most guys say the 450R shocks work good on a 250R with +2 a-arms. Way too stiff for stock a-arms.

sorry for the thread-jack, but does anyone know if 400ex front shocks perform well on a stock 86 250r? i think they will bolt up but do they change the handling or ride hight compared to stock shocks?

I'm not sure on the year of the shocks but the springs are as loose as they will go and i turned down the adjustement on the piggyback as far as i could.

I do have +2 arms so im not sure how bad they would be on stock arms. they are stiff but not unbarable or anything just much stiffer than stock 250r. i mostly dune ride, with a little jumping and i dont have any complaints about them.

i just wish they would sit lower for cosmetic reasons...

Well, it looks like I'll have to find a set of aftermarket I guess. I really don't want it sitting higher and I don't want them too stiff. Thanks for everyone's guidance.
