i just bought an ESR quick change clutch cover case like yours, after i read your post i looked over mine real close seems ok. i havent mounted mine yet though. my question to you is this. did the side case fit flush? or do you think it wasn't flush and when to tighten it down it pulled it flush and cracked it. follow what im saying.

If you look at the other side of the cover you will see it is machined away where the crack showed up. Either the cast was off a bit or the cover was not positioned in the maching jig correctly. The material is so very thin at this point. I believe there will be a few bad covers out there. ESR is not perfect but I believe they will stand behing thier product. I would expect they replace the cover and mechanical seal at no charge.
I see stuff that does not exist

Yes it was sitting flush i just built the engine so it was on my work bench i snugged all the bolts up then torqued them all. Its just a really thin spot.

Definitely keep us posted. It's one thing to work stuff out and have a few bad items go out, as long as they take care of it but I wonder about QC and how well things are checked before going out?

They are going to have a hard time making money or they'll become like Burgard - make good products but either stuff goes out bad, or can't get ahold of them or shipping takes too long etc. so people
    just stay away.
