    250R motor questons

Hey guys first time to this site. I picked up a basket case TRX250 motor, unfortunately it will never go in a quad again. I'm cutting the transmission off and making a competition bike saw out of it. I have some general questions on what year cases I have and if all the years were basically the same between crank and case and what differences there were in the cylinders from year to year. Also I was wondering if the stator and flywheel would be compatible...basically will a CR250 ignition work on these motors? I would appreciate any information you could give me. Thanks

from 87 up have longer rod, the old style of cylinder is a little more agressive on the porting (atc cylinder) looks like you got a newr clinder and most likly a +4 crank

Hey thanks for the answers! I've been reading that a 2001 CR 250 ignition works real well for these. You have any pictures of how the adapter works in the case with the stator?
I play around with saws a little porting them and building pipes and heads for them. Been alot of fun so I thought a bikesaw or quadsaw would be a real cool project. Here is some pics of the heads and pipes I've done.

Yes the 2001 is the set-up it will sure rev up good with that smaller flywheel too! The mounting with the adapter plate is pretty straightforward, dang you better sure show us how this thing runs when its done!
