I believe you can put a bigger sleeve in but but the time you pay for it you might as well bought a new cylinder. You can stroke it, port it and do a little head work but it wont be no monster.

I tried one of these years ago....it was OK....but the 310 Pro-x I bought after that was better.

If you're going for the SLEEPER look (make everyone think it's a stock 250cc) then you could do it.....but after all said and done the same money would get you a nice 310/330 Aftermarket kit.

4 mil stroke stock jug. Potent little motor and if set up right, I think they run better than the aftermarket 310 cylinders. I would take that stock just all the way out to 69 mm bore for 285 ccs. Depending on the combo, expect mid 50's hp. On a light 3 wheeler, it would be a real runner. I wouldn't mess with a big bore sleeve, it won't run any better than the combo I just mentioned. the smaller bore wth the stroke compared to the heavier big bore piston just revs so much quicker.

I dont disagree with you that people can do this. But to be your only awnser is a bit negative.

If we dont help these newer members as much as possible, this community will only continue to get smaller. We should encourage all questions, otherwise the topics will get fewer and fewer.

Whats the point of even having a forum if people cant come and ask questions.

I get so tired of people saying " use the search function" , you dont like it dont reply to the OP....easy solution.

    OP...

You can get a 295 sleeve for your stock jug. They have the potential to make some really nice power. Plus the cylinders end up being square. Which is great. I would PM Neil or Carlos, about getting your cylinder modified.

    I've always loved sleepers...

My brother and I once built an 85 ATC with a 270cc Sandtrix alcohol ported cylinder. It has a 40.5mm carb and ESR ATC-5 exhaust. It also had a ported Rad Valve, Milled and rechambered stock head, open intake and some other tricks. It was very, very quick for what it was, he even stretched a stock swingarm and painted it gold with new PRO-LINK decals. 99% of the people in the dunes thought it was stock, with the cylinder and head painted black, but were very surprised with how it ran.

The problem with going with a big engine displacement is the intake design... There is a point that the stock cylinder just can't flow enough air to support 300cc or more. The re-sleeves make great woods engines (Bill Balance ran them for years), but in open areas like the dunes, the 270cc is often faster. Look up some of the macdizzy MULE articles for 2mm strokers with 270cc cylinders. I've never seen one personally, but have heard that they are deadly quick for stock cylinder machines.

I once saw a 330 sleeve in a stock cylinder, but it was fast, but was a ticking time bomb... Turbobobby spit the cylinder nearly in half with his custom fuel mix.

Hey there KB250r! Pretty sure I remember you from 3WW. Glad you could make it. This site is second to none when it comes to the 250r's.

I kind of wanted the quasi-stock look as well and I can relate.

What I did was painted my ESR 350 cylinder black and left my crankcases black. Now, I realize the head and shape of the cylinder is a dead give away to those who are familiar with the 250r. But let's face it, most of your modern 450 riders wouldn't know a 250r Big Bore if it fell out of the sky, landed on their head and started to wiggle!

I understand my reply doesn't really pertain to your initial question, but I thought I might offer you a different angle on it.

Here's a couple of pics of my set up. I thought it came out well for just me and some good brush on paint...

Maybe it was negative, but to get on a site, and within days, that is the first question. Alot of the info is already on here, so there is alot of things people can learn if they just read some. Thats all.

    Thread hijack over.

The "sleeper" look is awesome, however; it is more expensive to build a GOOD OEM 72MM stock jug up than buying a 310. Plus; the OEM cylinder with the 72MM sleeve is more prone to head leaks than an aftermarket 310; the OEM cylinders get thin and are weaker than normal once a BB 72MM sleeve is pressed in.

One good option is a 69MM or 69.50MM stock jug as suggested by ATVCRAZY, fully ported/flowed with a +4MM crank, still has the stock "sleeper" look, and is a very strong runner. If done correctly; this set-up will run with most built/ported 310's...

    Carlos.
