Yes I am talking about Arlan that used to own LRD, then worked for LRD, then re-branched off. I have had motors built by him. Super nice guy. Like I orginally stated, he builds MX motors....if MX is your cup of tea, consider him...I've had MX motors run faster and been just as reliable

I talked to arlan once about a cylinder he ported and setup in 1991.... mind you i was born in 89... so it was funny, but he had all the information pertaining to that exact cylinder.... including it's revamp in 95'. The guy is a porting genius and super smart. Also a great guy to talk to about r's. he's open to questions and very helpful.

Carlos is the same way.. very nice, very knowledgeable, and he and i just had an hour long conversation discussing exactly what is to be done to my cylinder and what i need to do on my end. I know i'm in good hands and will have an awesome ported cylinder headed my way soon.

I'm sure from all i heard about Neil, he is just as great. I've never talked with him personally, but he was of great assistance in providing knowledge and opinionon my thread here when my powervalve failed last year on a new ESR 310.

Guys, keep this in mind. It cost me $150 round trip in shipping to ship a complete engine from south Mississippi to Packard in Utah. Call multiple builders and pick their brains with any questions you have, and go with a reputable one that you feel comfortable with. Their have been so many horror stories about small local shade tree shops messing up peoples cylinders etc. I rode one of Neil's builds atvfan28/Wayne has a 310 with a 6mill stroke and that thing impressed me. Everyone's prices are about the same, i'd rather pay the extra $ to ship it out and be able to sleep at night knowing my stuff is legit.

Trying to understand your train of thought. That's like saying there's car mechanics and truck mechanics and one can;t work on the other. He can build what ever type of motor a person wants not to mention it doesn't matter if you have a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke. MX or dunes also makes no difference to him. He can and will build a motor for what ever style/power delivery you want.

How do you know you've had MX motors run faster? Do you have dynos? Did you have a cop clock you on radar? Are you saying just from an ass dyno perspective? I'd like to understand why you're deterring people?

He's just stating his opinion. Jeesh.... let it go. A 370 that was built by his builder set-up conservately (timing wise) with a Lrd big bore pipe and signed off at 7800rpm made more hp than any other motor on that dyno has ever made, and Lrd admitted that themselves. I don't know the hp or tq but you might be able to ask atvcrazy for the specifics on the motor it was his.

IMO support those that support this forum, and asnwer all your questions & provide support at N/C. Honestly, setting my personal interest in BDT Motorsports aside...I would send it to Neil before I would send it to another builder.

PS: I call my customers regularly to see how the engine is runing or how they like the port/flow work at the Track, Dunes or Drag strip, and even non-customers get a call...aweosme work, quality and customer service rules the day IMO.

Oregons best kept secret is Arlan Lehman LED Performance Engines LED Performance used to be owner of LRD Performance (beofre he sold it and the dickhead ran it into the ground). Arlan has built many national winning bikes which is more than most people can say. Gary Denton, Barry Hawk, and Bill Ballance to name a few.

Also see this thread which features a bike Arlan recently built the motor for - yet another winner. Many MX racers on the East coast ship their motors to him to have their work done.

And you get what you pay for. You can buy an ESR 310 setup and slap it on your bike. Will it perform better than what you probably have right now? I'd say yes. However you take that same top end and you give it to someone that lives and breathes 250r's and that bitch will sing. There truly is an art to porting and even more of an art to understanding pipes and how to maximize USABLE and RELIABLE HP. I've seen a ton of people with crappy port jobs that produced serious top end HP but by the time that power actually rolled on the other person was long gone. To me the best bike is a torque monster that continues to pull through 6th gear.

I can't speak about anyone elses work that is mentioned in this thread but I will say stay the hell away (CT Racing). Yeeesh

I sound like a broken record but if you want reliable HP you gotta pay for it. There is just no way around it. Don't make any decision off of anyones info here. You truly need to call around and speak with these people. There's nothing better than having a relationship with your mechanic. I agree with this 100%

And OT: Talk about service. After Arlan rebuilt my top end he called me while I was at the dunes and wanted to know if everything was OK and if I was happy with the power delivery. How many of you have ever had that kind of service? My builder does the same, asked if it was what I expected and if it wasn't he would take it back.!
And there are many quality builders out there that are not on this board. Call around and see which one you feel comfortable with.
