new trx450r alba racing nerfs with heel guards installed on a 1986 framed trx250r....

Well i ordered a set of nerfs with heel guards for my 1986 trx250r 9 months ago and i still havent received them yet(thanks burgard), so i thought it is about time to go another route. So i remember reading a thread saying how trx450r nerfs bolt right on to 1986/87 250r's. So i found a set of alba racing nerfs with heel guards on ebay for around 180.00, and pulled the trigger. I am very happy with how they turned out and would def recommend the conversion. The nerfs come with front and rear pro-peg mounts that bolt right on to my 1986 frame. No modifications needed except i had to go buy longer hardware that was in my stock footpegs. Then the nerfs just slide right on to the pro peg mounts, u drill new holes in pro-peg mounts, and then just bolt up with included hardware. On the rear brake side of the quad, the nerf had to be trimmed a little in 2 spots(about .5 inch), but other than that it was simple. Just use a dremmel or hacksaw to trim and then slide onto pro-peg mounts. Also the footpegs of these alba nerfs have side to side adjustment of about 1-1.5in that helps alot to lock everything together. Here is link to pics of installation(they are out of order, sorry), Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket

Looks like a good fit. Does it matter what year 450r they are or are all the years the same? I may get a set of 'em for my 86.

So it basically works becuase you can rotate on the peg, too bad that doesn't work with footpegs.

As far as i know alba racing makes only one model for the trx450r. And yes it works just because the spacing on the footpeg mounts of a trx450r and a 86/87 are the same. You just have to rotate the pro peg mount and mark and drill new holes for the hardware. The only thing that is different would be that my footpegs are now about 2in back and 1in higher than stock. As you can see my motor is off being built but when i get it back ill post a ride report on how the footpegs feel. For only costing 180.00 i think they will be worth it and i cant find nerfs with heel guards anywhere for 86/87 250r.

Could you do me a big favor and measure the center of the front tube to the center of the rear tube please? I would like to see if I can get away with these on a LSR propeg frame. I'm crossing my fingers for 16.25-16.5 inches.

PS great looking bike you have there.

Looks great. For me 2" back is pretty far. This is a good option tho. I have some Roll pegs on my 86. I'm holding out for Lew at chassis inc to build some nerfs with heal guards. That or I'm going with some factory43 nerfs.

^ I really wanted to try the factory 43 nerfs but that is a good amount of money to throw down for something that might not work. If you try out the factory 43's def let me know how they work out. I do know that factory 43 makes a nerf with heel guards that come with pro peg mounts just like the alba racing ones that i used. So they should work with some slight modifications. They are def alot nicer nerf than the alba racing ones.

I've got the old school AC pro pegs on my banshee and they are back 2" and down 1". I had to shorten the shifter and the brake pedal so I could reach them. I've rode with them for so long when I get on my buddy's banshee with normal pegs it feels weird. Might take some getting used to.
