We just ran another batch of Honda "8 Ball" CR500 bearings with an increased ID (inside Diameter) for use with HotRod type cranks.

The ID of the bearings was ID ground to +.00025" to have the same interference fit of the OEM bearing to OEM crank as Honda, except these are specifically oversized ID bearings for HotRod cranks. The .00025" increased ID allows for ease of bearing assembly to HotRod crankshafts without needing to press fit during crank case assembly.

These should not be used with Honda OEM cranks; only for use with HotRod type crankshafts.

Cost: $46.69 each ($10 over Honda retail [$36.69] for the ID grinding) + $2.99 shipping

Do these go on both sides of the crank or just one and a regular bearing on the other?

You can use one each on the left & right side cases, which is how we prefer to assemble center cases using HotRod cranks. However; you can press the HotRod crank on the left case using an OEM bearing, and one of our HotRod specific bearings on the right.

    Carlos,

will the HotRod crank work with oem bearings? Or will it be a rather "tight" fit?

HotRod or Wiseco type crankshafts work fine with Honda OEM main bearings or aftermarket equivalent bearings...they will be a "tight" press fit.

The only issue is assembly; on HotRod type cranks, the crank shaft is made slightly oversize (.0002”-.00025”), using stock ID bore bearings results in a press fit of the bearing to crankshaft, not an ease assembly or disassembly procedure verses Honda OEM crankshafts.

We originally made these oversize ID bearings to facilitate our own engine building program, allow ease of assembly & disassembly out in the field (such as at Drag races). Over time, we have been selling these application specific bearings to other builders & shops…

Just ran a new batch of these oversized ID Main Bearings for the HotRod crankshafts. They work as well on the Wiseco crankshaft, however; we don't advice the use of Wiseco crankshaft in the 250R.
